Backblip From The Archive: Sandra Gregory
I remember travelling down to Halifax with a writer colleague to do an article on Sandra Gregory. She was convicted of drug smuggling in Thailand and spent many years in prison both there and in the UK. She was given a Royal Pardon by the King of Thailand in 2000. Her story is both frightening and incredible and I think it made her a very strong willed and determined human being. I tried to get away from the depressing portraits I'd seen made of her elsewhere in the media so we went for a walk along the canal outside her home where she was building a new life.
