Common Tern

A bit of a mixed day. Went to see the Quintinshill centenary remembrance parade and service. Quintinshill was the worst train disaster in UK history involving 5 trains and killing 226 young soldiers on the way to the front. A further 247 were injured. My great uncle was one of the severely injured.

In the afternoon I popped down to the harbour and was delighted to see one of my favourite birds have returned to breed, the Common Tern.
