Game of Thrones

Since it was such a nice day today (possibly the best of the weekend), Mr A and I ventured out on the bike and ended up in Skipton.

I've been to Skipton plenty of times, but never to the castle, so we decided to spend some time looking round there rather than the market.

It's still in relatively good nick (unlike the ruins at nearby Clitheroe castle) so it was nice to look around at all the various chambers, the dungeon and the kitchens.

I'm not sure if it's a regular thing, or just because it's the bank holiday weekend, but they had re-enactments, archery displays and even a demo on how a catapult works.

We met this weary knight in the main courtyard and he was happy to pose for a photo. Actually, I think he was happy just to take the weight off his feet for a few minutes!

We found some wooden swords in the armoury, so Mr A & I had a 'fight' with them.

I've a few other photos that I'll put on Flickr.

Tonight we are having another splurge of GOT, to try and get up to date before the season 5 finale airs on tv.
