Gloster Meteor T7

My new Studio is now completed, redecorated and waiting to receive it's new gear. So spent yet another day sorting out what can be cleared out and dumped or kept. Found this old map of Britain with propaganda material (entitled England)(see the outside cover in my extra photo) which my father had found in a forgotten crashed German bomber in the hills of Dumfriesshire in 1945, and was going to bin it when I had a thought that the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre might find it interesting. So tootled off down there and had lots of chats with old RAF veterans who were amazed at my find. In exchange they let me in free to wander around the Centre. My blip is a Gloster Meteor T7 now based at the Heritage Centre. The Gloster Meteor, a twin-engined jet fighter, was the first jet aircraft to serve with the Royal Air Force. The Meteor T7 variant entered service with No.203 Advanced Flying School in December 1948 as the RAF’s first jet trainer. The one now on show at the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre was delivered in 1951 by the manufacturer to 603 (City of Edinburgh) Squadron, which was based at RAF Turnhouse, now Edinburgh Airport.  It now has a home where it is tenderly cared for and cherished.
