looking in....

my new favourite place is the top of the steps by the new front (side...) door. It's here that I can stand in the quiet of the evening and watch birds and deer and more domesticated things like people and dogs. At the weekends I can secretly watch how Shish and her friend play together (today is mainly "cooking with weeds" and "shouting rude words"). It's where my baby plants live too. Looking in through the window I can see the painting chaos that took place before the rude word shouting took over. It's altogether a very happy place to be. 

The YES yesterday in Ireland's referendum for marriage equality and all the people who went home to vote moved me to tears. What wonderful people to travel so far to say yes to equality. Diversity and equality are things that are important to me in all their forms - to my mind, diversity is the true wonder of the world. Life itself is wonderful enough, but that it can take so many different forms is mind-blowing. Respect for diversity, which is all equality is, is respect for the miracle of life, whatever you may think lies behind it.
