An explosion of autumn colour

Spotted a group of waka (maori canoe) coming into the lagoon this morning, and guessed it was part of the annual lake race. It was pouring with rain, but grabbed the camera and the umbrella and popped down to try and get some shots, but they didn't come very close.
The maples and gingko trees at Hermione Cottage were looking so vibrant especially with the rain, so did a bit of a zoom on them as I knew the chances of anything decent on a day with rain predicted to fall all day was going to be minimal. And rather glad I did.

We have Eve and Flynn having  a sleep over tonight....aged four and five. They have a holiday house here and were down for the weekend, we have been promising them for ages that they could stay so seemed a great idea. It is their first ever sleep over. Think it may be an early start in the morning though!
