Birds On The Irk & Irwell
Later today I rode to where the River Irk flows into the River Irwell . An area of massive development I was glad to have a few tips from a knowledgeable worker there .He directed me to the best viewing spots .I was soon rewarded by the Cormorant flying in, almost prehistoric in appearance .Then a Heron flew to perch on a bridge. He later dived and made a catch in the clearer waters of the Irk.. The Cormorant gave such a look over his shoulder.(see the extra ) Clearly , both wanted to be alone .The heron waded away.
Sea gulls skimmed the waters making catches and ducks appeared every now and then. Altogether a pleasant hour or so.
