Hygeia

This is Hygeia, at St Bernard's Well, on the Water of Leith between Stockbridge and Dene Village. She marks a mineral spring that was to supply Stockbridge with clean water. In Greek and Roman mythology she is associated with the prevention of sickness and the continuation of good health.

Others photos: a 17th century millers plaque on Millers Row at the Water of Leith that says, 'In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread' and a beautifully proportioned large window from Edinburgh's New Town with an ash tree behind - that no doubt will eventually fall victim to Ash Die-Back Disease.
