Gnat Trap?

I went to Garden Club today. We had a interesting speaker from a unique local nursery; he brought some plants to sell and I bought this  Copper Top Pitcher plant. I was told it will attract insects and destroy them in the "pitcher". I will let you know if it takes care of the fruit flies in my kitchen!

Weather was nice early, but now thunder and lightning!
