1970's

Still off work so passing the time looking through old photos.  This one was taken at Holyrood House, my friend Joan (on the left) and I had just been presented with our Gold Duke of Edinburgh award.  We were lined up in a big room with around 30 others to 'meet' the Duke of Edinburgh, he selected individuals to speak to and I was one of the chosen few.  Can't remember what he said, it was all quite overwhelming at the time coming from a small community and never having been anywhere posh!
We were quite proud of ourselves being the first two females in Shetland to gain the Gold Award.
