Why the confusion?
Behind the ear:  white spot or small white stripe?
Bill: long or medium?
That's all I had to go on.
If I chose the first combination, it would have been a female Black-chinned.  If the latter combo, then an Anna's hummingbird.  Based on my best "observation" given some rest, I changed the ID to an Anna's.  The first of the season.

I can't keep my eyes open. Literally. I've already taken both doses of my narcotic "stay awake" medications. Sleep disorder.  Ugh.

Hope I don't fall asleep during my pedicure. I've got to stay awake to enjoy that.  Starbucks beforehand perhaps?
