Strawberry wellies
Mammoth day at the allotment for us.
Ten hours between us.
I did more hours but Mr P worked so much harder in the time he was there.
Lots of planting, mulching, frame making , grass cutting and the dreaded weeding.
Top pests at the allotment so far this year are the rabbits who eat anything green and pidgeons.who are partial to the sweet peas and brassicas.
Spent a lot of the day fiddling with chicken wire and bamboo canes try to construct a fortress around the peas, beans, broccoli and cabbages.
One of our neighbours is giving up her fantastic plot this year.
She is 80 and finally calling it a day. Her large plot will be split into four smaller ones in an attempt to reduce the waiting list of other villagers who are really keen to get a plot.
I took lots of shots there today (still inspired by The Chelsea Flower Show) but on the way home passed the wday nursery at the end of my street and saw these strawberry plants that had been planted in old pairs of Wellington boots.
Don't they look cute?r
