Dawn Damsel

I went down to the River Roding at dawn to see if I could catch the damsels for extreme closeups before they warmed up for the days flying. It worked. There were plenty around in the wet grass by the riverbank and I could get close enough to almost pat them on the head.
This is the male Banded demoiselle (Calopteryx splendens). The females are an even more beautiful irridescent green.
There were several other species down there so I must go back to finish the job.
