Prineville, Oregon Reservoir Sunset
One of the reasons for camping at the Prineville. Oregon Reservoir on this particular weekend is the "Annual Star Party".
Many of Oregon's astronomer amateurs and professionals gather with their high-power telescopes to view the best of the celestial offerings.
Prineville Reservoir is a very dark place when the Moon is new as it is 14 miles to any significant light source.
The whole day has been quite cloudy making the potential for viewing worriesome at best.
Just as the sun set, however, the skies began to clear.
By 10 pm Venus, Jupiter and Saturn were struttin' their stuff.
Most amazing, great good fun for sure!
