Double danger...
Another busy one today. Sorted out and bolused cows and calves to put to the grass. They go to ground up the hill which we reclaimed in the early 80's. It is a 2 .5 mile walk to get there,so they weren't quite so lively by the time they got to the field.
Spent the rest of the day spreading slurry on silage ground. Had a text from the next door farm saying he was desperate for an easterly wind ! Take it the smell was bothering him !
The fencers here knocking in some straining posts to replace rotten ones. We try to use phone or electric poles for posts as they last a lot longer with the creosote in them. The modern ,environment friendly treatments are rubbish, and some posts are struggling to last 5 years. Old poles have been in use for years before we get them, and can last another 30 odd years as fence posts.
This is the big weight that is on a slide that whacks the posts into the ground. I would have thought that it is fairly obvious that you keep your fingers out the way, without needing big warning signs !
