Bass Rock
Assembly finished before 4 today, with the Guild report delivered ably by our own Kay Keith. The Moderator gave her a lovely tribute.
As the sun was shining and it was even warm enough to walk around in Edinburgh without a coat, I decided to go on a wee side trip to the seaside and took the short train ride to North Berwick. I'd never been there before and I was very impressed. It has a beautiful sandy beach, a wonderful High Street and of course, the Scottish Seabird Centre.
Several islands lie in, the Firth of Forth and this one is Bass Rock, appearing white because it is covered in gannets (150,000 +) and gannet guano. It was once the home of St. Baldred, an early Christian hermit, and later used as a prison. The lighthouse was designed by David Stephenson, Robert's brother.
