Hail

Walumping great lumps of frozen sky. It made a nice change from the rain though.

This afternoon I noticed that cars passing the house were sounding their horns (do cars still have horns?). Which reminds me - You do know why cows in Alpine meadows wear bells? It's because the horns don't work......... Anyway - back to the cars. Being of an enquiring bent I finally stirred from my book and mug of tea to take a look. The mystery ducks, joined by another drake, were celebrating the rain by doing the standing on one-leg thing but in the middle of the lane; drivers were trying to encourage them to shift. They would let a car through and then go back to their favoured spot. I hope that they stay home after tea because I don't think they will fare well once darkness falls and I could certainly do without the noisy invitations to move.
