Gently down the stream

Opiate of the people

I know that's what Marx called religion, but I see today in the paper that Simon Pegg thinks much the same results from too much watching of yarns from comic books, superheros and sci-fi.  He may have a point, but I think currently the real opiate is our attachment to mobiles/cell phones.  Time was when, if you stopped for a coffee unaccompanied, you'd bury your head in a newspaper (idiots like me still do).  Now it's grab the phone and check on your current popularity status.  And for goodness sake don't look around you to see where you are.  Someone might be staring at your empty cup and hoping to grab your table.

Blippers, of course, are excepted and can take full advantage - how mean  :))

Have a good evening, dear peeps  xx
