Far from the Madding Crowd (again)

We went to the cinema this evening to see the remake of Far from the Madding Crowd.

Clive was bored out of his brain within 30 minutes. He found the size of Martin Sheen's head and features distracting and he sniggered everytime he appeared on screen.

The original 1967 film was filmed in and around my home town of Devizes and the memory of it still much talked about. We were living in Malta at the time but I can pick out some of the extras as people I know. (Some now deceased) One of my best friends is a 3 year old toddler in one scene and a friend's Dad has a line in the Corn Exchange Scene.

The new version was lovely but I couln't help but make comparisons with the original.

Apart from the couple in front of us, we were about the youngest in the audience. Clive reckons they were all 1967 extras looking out for themselves!
