Killdeer

The Killdeer is another bird that is very easy to identify by it's call.  It sounds like they are saying kill-deer over and over while they run along.  My favorite thing about them is the lengths they will go to to protect their nests. They run around and act like they are wounded to distract predators. If you have time, this link that demonstrates this interesting behavior is definitely worth seeing.
