From one "fun palace" to another...

The morning light over the Mississippi was rather beautiful today, as seen from the air as we took off from New Orleans. The aeroplane window added a rather pleasing soft focus effect.

We were headed for Texas and spent the evening at Kemah Boardwalk, which seemed to us to be a quintessential American seaside resort (American blipfriends please correct me if I'm wrong!). We're a bit old for the fairground rides (which are rather too prone to induce persistent vertigo and heartburn these days!!) but we enjoyed watching kids enjoying themselves. And we were delighted to see a traditional wooden roller-coaster still in operation. I'll add a shot of that as an "extra"; one wonders how on earth the designers worked out exactly how to build them - or do they just put struts everywhere and hope for the best...?!
