The laptop had got slower and slower with the ever increasing obesity of minimal amount of software installed on it.  First thought was to add more memory and installed another couple of GB today.  

Woo - did that make a difference.

Have to say I'm seriously impressed with "Mr Memory". Online tools easily pinpointed the right bits for our aging laptop, and confirmed what was already installed; and the DIMMs were in my hands less than 24 hours later with free delivery.
