Lazy dogs on the beach at Trinco

We're heading to Trincomolee on the east coast today. We have to take two buses with an hour's stop in Horowupotana on the way. It's a long hot journey but we arrive and take a tuk tuk to the city beach area and find a guest house. We have a swim but the sea and beach aren't that nice here although the many dogs don't seem to mind. We think we'll head to the beach at Uppuveli tomorrow.

In the evening we go to the train station to see if we can book a sleeper carriage back to Colombo overnight on the 16th. They're all booked out already as are any second class seats you are able to reserve! Although the guy seems to think there will be cancellations on the day. They are probably bought up by agencies to flog to tourists. We decide we'll just turn up on the day and see what happens. If we don't get a sleeper we'll just buy a normal second class ticket and see how we go ... probably no sleep but we don't really want to take the day train and stay overnight in Colombo so it may be our only option.

We have a wander round town and although it's quite busy in bits there's not much going on. We do find a great rice and curry, however, for a really good price then head back to the room with a couple of beers. We've paid a bit extra for air con so at least it's cool in there.
