Sunflower series #11

One of the disadvantages of planting sunflowers is that you have to leave them until they are looking dead and disgusting before the seeds are ripe enough for the birds to eat.  I've had these awful dead things along the front of my house for weeks now.  

Today I have been off work - well I went to work but they sent me home as they didn't want to catch my bugs.  Humph.  

Anyway, while lying on my bed feeling sorry for myself I watched the sparrows and greenfinches having a field day feeding on the sunflowers.  Of course when I went out there with my big lens they all flew away, so I went back in for my macro lens instead.
