Village Parade

The sun came out just in time for the fancy dress parade today.

I've chosen this picture of the many I took today as it reminds me of the silver jubilee celebrations that took place when I was at primary school.

I was happy to see so many people taking part but also sad that I knew so few of them; like me, most of the people that grew up with me in this village are unable to afford to buy a home there as property prices have spiralled.

The children were having a great time making noise with their wooden spoons on the tin drums and there were several 'floats' that had been beautifully decorated for the occasion too.

Luckily my parents still live in the village so I have an excuse to take part.
