The Loving Cup
I was a guest at the Tin Plate Workers dinner which took place at Painter's Hall in London.
As part of the dinner there was a ritual called the Loving Cup - something I had never heard of. This ceremony is said to date back to 978 and the assassination of King Edward at Corfe Castle. Edward died whilst drinking from a cup passed to him by his wicked stepmother - he was stabbed in the back.
The ceremony of the loving cup is that someone passes you the cup (like a mini version of the FA Cup) and whilst you are drinking the person behind you turns and watches your back.
