A Day Worth Recording

Patchwork

The plans for this weekend went out of the window at lunchtime today.  We were due to visit A on Sunday to fix a number of practical things about the house and computer.  Just after lunch came the phone call that A was in hospital having suffered a series of small strokes.

We drove over in the afternoon, taking the A421 route - trying to travel as much as possible at 90 degrees to London/Jubilee traffic.  Remarkably that worked well.

Arriving at the JR in Oxford is a thoroughly depressing experience.  There are no useful signs of where to park for the main entrance; the entrance itself is hardly obvious; and 'Reception' comprises one person whose sole purpose is to direct you to A&E.

How it can possibly make sense for relatives only wanting to know the location of a patient, to have to go and queue in A&E (along with those who really need A&E), is utterly beyond me.

Exhausted, 'dinner' was a raid on a just-closing Coop; crisps and cheese-on-toast.
