Downstairs

We're in the kitchen, preparing lunch for seventeen, and looking out over part of the garden through a window etched with the signatures and titles of former downstairs staff; the Footmen, Butlers and Cooks have all left their mark. The oldest signature is dated 1698.

Our friends grew up here. We're incredibly lucky visitors. Happy to pretend, once a year, that this is our life.
