Fond memories of Leeds Town Hall.
By train to Leeds today for a greatly enjoyed lunch with old work colleagues and their wives and husbands. An event which has been going on every Spring for 22 years.
The walk from the station brought back lovely memories of life 65 years ago when, with some school friends, Knottman was a regular attender at concerts in Leeds Town Hall given by the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Miles?
For one shilling and sixpence we could sit on the front row of the choir benches behind the percussion section. Great for the 1812 Overture.
It was only a month or two ago that I discovered that in the same years someone now very well known was sitting on the same benches - perhaps at times even next to us. He was Alan Bennett.
