House in the Mountains

Went with the IRES students to the town of Bananal for the weekend. Here we stayed in a friends (very nice) house in the mountains and visited a bamboo farm to learn more about the materials these young researchers are working with. Mike and I got the kids to the rodoviaria and out on a bus before noon and we arrived at our friend's house (with groceries) in time to start cooking a super tasty tomato-veggie sauce for some spaghetti. We even got to swim a bit in the very cold waterfall nearby and settled in with some spoons in the evening (the card game... not the other variety of spooning, though the jokes abound.)
