Safe-keeping
Up early so that we could get to the hospital in time. Husband had to be there for 7am. I was allowed to go upstairs to his room and was then asked to wait in the foyer until after he was finished. I got to look after his wedding ring and his watch. You can see his ring on my surprisingly old-looking finger. I sat for over an hour before I saw the consultant arriving. I sat downstairs and read my book club book on my Kindle and people-watched the others in the reception area. Things eventually got going and he was ready to be taken home at 10.30. He left almost upright and walking without a crutch - something that he's not been able to do since Christmas. Fingers crossed.
