Earl's Palace

Went into town for dancing and everyone noticed that the Current Mrs Creel had been using the frying pan on ma heid .  After dancing we got absolutely drenched whilst walking to Shearers.  We repaired to the Strynd tearoom for a Panini and soup.  I almost felt like a tourist but they hadn’t got any fresh ones.  I dozed off once at home but I was awoken by the application of a large hat pin

Today’s Blip is a quick grab of the Earl’s Palace in Kirkwall, built around 1606 by Patrick, Earl of Orkney.  It is a building of extraordinary refinement, spacious and masterfully planned. It still has the power to impress. Externally, the eye is drawn to the frontal façade, while internally it’s the great hall that overwhelms most, with its huge, 5m-wide fireplace.   At least that’s what the critics say.  CMC says you would need a large dust-buster.
