Red Shoveler

I enjoyed myself at Martin Mere WWT today while my other half spent a tortured couple of hours watching Preston NE in the play offs. They won! So it's off to Wembley in a couple of weeks for the final.

There wasn't much activity in the bird hides, so I wandered around the enclosures where they have birds from around the world. I was quite taken with this little fella. Beautifully marked and a fantastic beak just right for the job. They're native to South America.
