Magic!

Sweet Potatoes are magic!
Put one pointy end down in a glass of water and keep it on a top shelf in your kitchen where it will be nice and warm but not too glaringly bright. First it will grow filigree roots and then shoots will begin to grow upwards. When shoots are about 150mm long remove them gently from the potato and put into another glass of water where these too will begin to grow roots. When the shoots have roots, put them into little pots with soil and when they are looking fairly robust and healthy, plant them out. Last year we harvested 71kg from 18 plants. They are more versatile, more tasty and better for you than regular spuds and they are low GI so better for those with blood sugar issues.
And edited to add that I completely forgot to mention that we woke up to the sound of a cuckoo + later in the afternoon were chirruped by a gecko behind/under the couch :-)
