Sevens Heaven
A weekend in the west. We'd got George tickets for the Glasgow Sevens, the penultimate round of the HSBC Sevens Series, for his Christmas, and as part of that I got tickets for me as well, and we'd make a weekend of it by just staying through in Glasgow. The rain stayed off, the sun came out, and both England and Scotland qualified for the 'Cup' section of the second day (meaning we were both happy).
Stars of the day, though, were probably Kenya. At least in the eyes of the crowd (after Scotland of course). They were put to the sword against New Zealand, but were clearly up for a battle with South Africa, leading till about halfway through the second half when a player got sin-binned and it unraveled from there. Loads of support too - we shared our bit of the shuttle bus to the stadium with some Kenyan fans, and had a nice conversation with a guy at least a couple of inches taller than me, kilted, taking his niece for an ice cream. The Fiji fans were fewer, but just as vocal (this shot from Fiji playing Wales, the Welsh just blown away).
An enjoyable day out, with a nice meal back in the city, though George had to turn in shortly after that. Forecast for tomorrow is somewhat more inclement. Proper rugby weather some would say.
