Timber!

I assume this tree went over in the recent strong winds as it was definitely upright a few days ago. Luckily it missed the property behind it, just. I'm confused by the apparent scorching near the base, though. It looks like it was hit by lightning to me, but, so far as I am aware, we've not had any lately.

Not the shot I'd gone out to take, although that shot did get taken. Seeing this on my way home, though, I couldn't resist. Well, could you?
