My Perch
The wren was a little bemused by the large floating multi coloured bubbles floating past from next door and stayed in the safety of the ivy for a while. It then alighted on the sticks the blue tits perch on before going into their box, and sang at full throttle. The blue tits were not amused and a little fracas occurred. That over the tits went back to dashing in and out of the box with food for the young and the wren to collecting moss from the grass for its nest.
As soon as I put food out for the birds they descend from all corners. We have 3 pairs of blackbirds; the males often strut up and down the shed roof showing off and deciding who’s king. They have a pecking order but when the food is out things can get a little animated especially when the starlings join in. Another family of sparrows has fledged and are seen exploring the garden pecking at anything to see if its edible before resorting to
begging from parents.
