Jimmy Lowe

Formby has been associated with asparagus for years and at one stage there were 200 acres of land given over the the stuff.  Today, it's about 10, but at least it survives.  The National Trust has created an asparagus trail with some pretty impressive wood sculptures and new signage.  This one's Jimmy Lowe, who apparently won Champion asparagus grower at the local show in 1930, 31, 32, 34, 36 and 37 and, presumably made himself pretty unpopular in the process.
