The Royal Oak, Langstone
A day visiting Andy's Mum in Havant. Whilst Andy did some plumbing to fix a dripping tap, I wandered into town and found Havant arts centre - The Spring - named after the springs that rise in the area. Havant itself has become surrounded by large out of town shops and the centre now quite run down but there are some real treasures if you hunt for them - the church, old pubs with wonderful character and architecture, old advertising signs painted on the walls of buildings, and the arts centre - a relaxing and inspiring space with cafe, exhibitions and a theatre. This picture is of the Royal Oak pub which sits on the waters edge at Langstone - a short walk down the old railway line from Havant. The pub is steeped in history; ghosts, wrecked ships, tunnels and secret passageways. Its a great place to sit and have a drink and while away the hours looking out over Chichester Harbour.
