Lichen OK
An item in a TV programme last night suggested that some species of lichen in Scotland were declining to dangerously low levels. That reminded me of a nearby walk where, last time I was there, the lichen was thriving. I needed to check it out.
So Cooriedog got a different walk this morning. The walk is through mixed woodland though mostly conifer. It was drizzling following heavy rain last night. That had the effect of accentuating all the colours around - the yellows/greens/oranges of the mosses, the spring green of the new leaves coming through and the dark green of the old pine needles, the brown of the old ferns which are about to be replaced with this years growth. It was wonderful.
And the lichen was still there in abundance and being happily hosted.
