City Games
Into Manchester to get a few things this morning. The plan was to go in and then out fairly quickly as it would be very busy with the City Games taking place. But .........
.... we stayed a lot longer than intended. I enjoyed the women's pole jumping and the men's long jumping in Albert Square, the girl's and boy's school sprint down Deansgate, the men's and women's 100 metres, and the women's 100 m hurdles. Jessica Ennis Hill did not win - this was her first competition since having her baby - but gave the whole event star quality. The blip is of her warming up earlier on Brazenoze St.
The whole thing was quite a spectacle, the crowds fantastic, and so well worth staying for. Even if I was still tired from the lack of sleep over the election period.
I took loads of photos, and have added two. Not every day you see pole vaulting in the City Centre (or sprinting, for that matter) !
