Amongst the kingcups

The rain lashed down today until late afternoon as I arrived in Baltimore for the Fiddle Fair. First stop was Glebe Gardens Cafe and coffee in the warm sunshine surrounded by big tubs of colourful tulips. The gardens are lovely and Jean grows lots of the vegetables for the cafe. her partner has helped create a lovely river walk, a beautiful spot for a bit of quiet reflection and appreciate the wild flowers. loved this red punt, which might be soon overgrown with the surrounding Kingcups or March marigolds (Caltha palustris).
Then it was down to the harbourside pubs for a lively session to kick off the weekend. The main performer in tonight's concert was a musician that I have loved for years but never seen live before Julie Fowlis. She was wonderful, even more inspiration to visit the highlands and islands of Scotland in the not too distant future!
