Pie n pea night

It's a northern thing I think.

We had "meat n tater pie" with Henderson's Relish. Followed by 3 versions of the family chocolate fudge cake recipe - bake off style.

My husband won the bake off. Mother-in-law was not impressed.  We didn't tell them it was lactose-free and gluten-free!

The rest of the evening we looked at all the photos great grandad had left us...there were a few, as you can imagine, but it was nice to see pictures of the family when they were young, and hear the memories behind them.  Thankfully mother-in-law had the idea of going through some of the really old ones with great grandad before he died so she could write on the back who they were.
