Malta, Day 4
We were due in Fergus's place for 1.30, so the morning was free for lounging around the hotel swimming pool before being picked up by the hotel's minibus driver and taken up to the entrance to the hilltop development where Fergus's place is. It's part of a major reconstruction project on the site of a former fort overlooking the harbour. There's still a lot of work to be done before the project is finished, but Fergus's pad is a brilliant example of what's possible. We had afternoon tea, we four music group members had one of our music sessions, and suddenly it was time to go back down to the hotel to get ready for our evening get-together for the Gala Dinner which is a regular part of these go-away trips with the music group. The evening light was exquisite, and I couldn't resist doing a bit of blipping, including this possibly intrusive shot looking straight down from our balcony.
Once again, local knowledge came up trumps. We ate in Ta' Frenc restaurant, in the heart of the island. It's a great location, with fine food in a beautiful surroundings. We had a lovely evening there. Fergus dropped us back to Mgarr and three of us decided to finish off our stay with a bit of a session in a little bar which I'd spotted yesterday afternoon. There were two bars beside one another, one of which was rather loud and busy. We settled for the other one and had a great time over a few local beers (it's called Cisk -- pronounced Chisk -- and costs ridiculously little). A perfect end to another great day.
