This is autumn

The beautifully warm nor'wester morning that is blowing the orange, yellow leaves off the (mar would interject here saying 'they're deciduous') trees.

That's autumn right there. The warmth. The prettiness of the colours on the ground.

I had many things to do today and many phone calls.

Kanye was home, hes really up and down at the moment with how he's reacting to the drop in medication. Sometimes it takes him a few days other times  a couple of weeks.

I sorted through my garage over the weekend so took a few things to the dump today, then was off to the pet shop to gather their essentials. Picked up the books from the library Mar wanted.

Took Harper to the dentist, not sure if wrote about it but Harper chipped his baby front tooth a month back so today had check up, all looks good, they are going to continue yearly check ups until it naturally falls out, they are required by acc to do so.

Had a meeting for Marley today, they are going to do a cognitive assessment and an ados (autism screening) on him soon. They are saying that he isn't quite where he needs to be for writing and maths so the cognitive assessment will help them find how he learns best as its not that he cant learn and retain information, its that they want to find the best way to get that info into him so i'm happy they're onto it early. 

His teacher, the way she spoke, seemed like she felt she was failing him, she kept saying she wants to help him and teach him the way he'll learn best.

The autism screening is because they think its possible mar has aspergers, which is a higher functioning form of autism.
 Essentially they are regular people who can love, learn, are verbal, intelligent and want to be social but lack the skills to read social situations and dont have the ability to know how to respond in situations. 

So for example say he is wanting to be friends with a child he might follow along doing what they're doing and he might not realize its the wrong thing and he might not know how then to respond when he gets in trouble for it because that social side of it isn't there for him . Or say hes in a group of kids and one falls he might not have the ability to read that situation and respond.

That side of it, if he does indeed have it can be taught but to him that social part doesn't come naturally.
We will see. Tests are in June and get results in July and at any rate it doesn't change him its just a name for it and it could possibly mean more help for him..

Had phone calls from various people and case workers today. A lot of the boys things are at the point of renewal so they have to do over the phone assessments, its good but long.

We are also in the process of getting Kanye a trike, there is a company who customs makes trikes for disabled children to suit their needs, its costly but my ccs case worker has found a private funder who is anonymously paying for the whole thing including shipping it to us from north island.

We got in touch today with the lady who assists us with getting a car through the lotteries commission, sh said because we don't need any adjustments or specifications other than fitting kanyes chair in that we can go look for a car , take our time and when we find one she'll come to car yard, sign forms and we will have a car!!!!!

So lots going on but all good things!!!
