'May flakes'

This reminds me of snow, and hence the name I have given them.
Bit sad really.
The blossom is so eagerly awaited each spring, and this year it has been so prolific that I cannot remember a better one for flowering trees and shrubs - simply glorious.
Then, all of a sudden, and so quickly, the rain and wind cast them all to the ground.
So here we have 'snowdrifts' of pink and white petals on the footpaths and in the gutters.
