Haircut....
Only had to work half a day today so it gave me chance to go into the city to get my hair cut. I always go to BarberBarber in Barton Arcade just off St. Ann's Square. It's a traditional barber shop that looks like it's been here since the arcade opened over 150 years ago when in fact it's just a shade over two years old. It was opened by Jonny the BaBa who came over from Ireland to do so. It's gone from strength to strength and he's now got barber shops in Liverpool and Leeds.
It operates a men only policy. No women allowed at all. Has caused the odd controversy when a woman has been stopped, politely, from waiting for her boyfriend/husband. One woman in Liverpool banned her husband from going in. Oh the irony! Someone else didn't want her son exposed to bad language and the dangers of an all male environment. Well I've never heard bad language in this establishment and how is a boy going to learn to be a man if he doesn't mix with men?
There are women only beauty salons in the city and I've not heard of anyone getting upset that men are barred from these establishments. It's refreshing to be in an all male environment every so often.
They cut hair and trim beards here, both done extremely well. I always come out of here looking 10 years younger, 3inches taller and more intelligent. They DON'T do colours and perms and the like so don't ask. The formula works. All three shops are packed from opening time to closing.
