Playing with dolls
The boy child is, to my eternal joy and that of his grandfathers, living and dead, an Arsenal fan.
Yesterday, as we wandered around the shops in Prague, we came across a place selling matryoshka dolls in a variety of different styles. "Imagine if they have Arsenal dolls," he said. And, improbably, they did.
As it turned out, Arsenal was one of the more popular teams featured in the shop. They had the entire English Premiership and Championship line-ups, plus the Scottish Championship too - so if you were a fan of Cowdenbeath you were in luck. In fact, pretty much every decent size sports team in all the major sports on both sides of the Atlantic was represented. It was quite impressive, in a weird, obsessive way.
Anyway, the boy child couldn't leave without his own set of dolls, and here they are. In truth, they don't bear the closest resemblance to the players they're supposed to be. So just in case you don't recognise them, they are (from biggest to smallest): Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Santi Cazorla, Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey.
Naturally, we've been tormenting the boy child about his new penchant for playing with dolls. He's very amused, as you can imagine.
