Coquet Island

Coquet Isand is just off the Northumberland coast near Amble. It is home to a large colony of nesting seabirds including the roseate tern, one of our rarest nesting seabirds. Coquet now holds 90 per cent of the UK's roseate tern population. It is also home to several thousand nesting Sandwich, Arctic and common terns in May, June and July, and thousands of puffins occupy the main part of the island. It belongs to the RSPB and is not open to the public. Boats are available to take you around the island for viewing the birds from the sea.
