Monument
I hadn't been to London in ages, so it was great to spend the day wandering round. We climbed Monument; something I've meant to do for years. There are 311 steps up an increasingly narrow spiral staircase, and you certainly feel quite exposed once you're at the top. The view of the ever-changing city makes it well worth it. As does the certificate you receive once you're safely down! We then went to the best veggie canteen in the world- Food For Thought. I've been going there for about 15 years, and can't believe it's closing at the end of June. We filled our bellies to bursting point then walked it off with a trek across the river and along to Bermondsey. We just had time to sneak in a visit to one of the micro-breweries before heading back to a friend's to meet up with lots of other friend's that we haven't seen in months. A few (!) drinks were sunk ahead of catching the bus north to another friend's club night in Stoke Newington. We had to tear ourselves away to get the last train home.
